1890 4 May

Oscar Weitemeyer establishes Københavns Smergelfabrik as the first and only of its kind in Denmark

1911

Københavns Smergelfabrik is taken over by Edward Julius White and his partner, Emil Frederick Grunth, both have been employees of the company since 1910

1917

Københavns Smergelfabrik merges with the largest hardware wholesaler, JE Møller's Widow & Co., but sandpaper is still marketed under the name "Københavns Smergelfabrik"

1944

The company converted to public limited company

1949

The dragon fly (Odonata-Anisoptera) is designed by the renowned industrial designer Henning Seidelin (1904-1987) and registered as the current trademark and logo

1975

The company moves from Østerbro in Copenhagen into newly built facilities in Maribo on Lolland

 

1978

Queen Margrethe II visits Maribo and Københavns Smergelfabrik and is on that ossasion presented with a dragon fly in 14 carat gold

1985

The paint and lacquer group Flügger A/S acquires the company. Flügger decides that the trademark must be included in the name of one of the company’s subsidiaries, and thus it is changed to Color Dragon A/S and later to Dragon A/S

2007

Bang & Jørgensen A/S, takes over the company

2015

Blue FF takes over the company

2019

Dragon Holding A/S takes over the company
